How to prepare for CTET | Tips to crack CTET

A teacher is not only a guide but is also the builder of the nation. A large number of youth inspires to be a teacher. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Exam usually twice a year – July and December. This year the CTET exam will be held on December 8, 2019, in 110 cities across the country.

After qualifying the CTET exam a candidate becomes eligible to teach class I-VIII of Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central Schools). Minimum 60 percent is required to qualify for the CTET exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (for both papers)-

i. Minimum 17 years

ii. There is no maximum age limit

I. Paper-I (Classes I to V)

Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary and have one of the following diplomas/degrees-

● Diploma in Elementary Education OR appearing in the final year

● Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education OR final year students of B.El.Ed.

● Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR appearing in the final year

● Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) OR appearing in the final year OR Secured at least 45% marks in Senior Secondary and have passed or appearing for the final year of 2-year diploma in Elementary Education as per the NCTE Regulations, 2002 II. Paper-II (Classes VI to VIII)

● Must be a graduate

● Diploma in Elementary Education or appearing in the final year

OR

● Graduate with at least 50% marks

● Must have passed or currently appearing in 1 year B.Ed.

OR

● Graduate with at least 45% marks

● Must have passed or appearing in the 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) in accordance with the NCTE regulations OR

● Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary

● Must have passed or appearing in the final year of 4 year B.El.Ed

OR

● Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary

● Must have passed or appearing in final year of 4 year BA/BSc. Ed or BA. Ed/B.Sc. Ed

OR

● Graduate with at least 45% marks

● Must have passed or currently appearing for 1 year B.Ed (Special Education)

Tips to prepare for CTET

Good reference material plays an important role in the successful preparation for any exam. For CTET, preparing from NCERT textbooks related to the subject, leading monthly magazine on competitive exams (Pratiyogita Nirdeshika) and notes based on the latest exam pattern would help in clearing the exam.

Regular practice is of utmost importance to prepare for CTET exam.

A good strategy is a must to prepare for the CTET exam. Classify your weaknesses and strengths and prepare accordingly. Focus more on sections with weak understanding. Understand the exam pattern and syllabus. Study from last 10 year question papers. Time management is the key to success. Self-notes are important.
